Yogi’s Push-Up Yoga Pose

Chaturanga Dandasana

In Sanskrit, chaturanga means “four-limbed staff pose. ” This is basically a push-up with your elbows tucked in. This pose strengthens you inside and out, and is an integral part of the Full Sun Salutation series Pose.

1 Begin in Plank Pose Pose. Reach your heels back to activate your legs, and reach forward with your chest by drawing your shoulders up and away from your ears.

2 Lift your ribs and navel up and draw your tailbone in to support your lower back.

3 Bend your elbows by your sides and lower down to about 3 inches from the ground while continui to lift your navel and front body. This is a challenging pose. Hold for 1 to 3 breaths, or for as long as you can, with your gaze about 6 inches in front of you. Then drop down or move into Baby Cobra Pose or Upward-Facing Dog Pose.
