Yoga uddiyana bandha on Further west, however, the Buddhists had little success, or at least little lasting success. In the early third century ce the Sassanian dynasty ousted the remnants of Greek rule and re-established Zoroastrianism. Further west, the emperor Constantine converted to Christianity in 337 ce and the Roman world followed suit. To the east, the Buddhists fared rather better. On the southeastern route from India the Theravada (Way of the Elders) form of Buddhism was established in Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Kampuchea (Cambodia) and Laos. In some form or other, it still exists in these countries today. On the northeastern route, in a variety of forms, it was established in Nepal, parts of Central Asia, China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
