Yoga poses in bed on A liberated yogin would still, presumably, experience at least some of the vrttis, and it might be that in such a case the vrttis would be non-afflicted. 4.7 tells us, for example, that the actions (karma) of the yogin are neither black nor white. However, since the klesas are only eradicated in the final stages of yogic practice (4.29-30) there is little scope for the aklista vrttis. What is clear is that all these states of consciousness are conditioned or affected by the traits (vasana) and impressions (samskara), which, in turn, are created and modified by the character of ongoing experience. It is a pretty powerful exercise to start from a place of perception. On some days, meditating like this can help you feel more mentally quiet. On other days, it can feel like the volume has been turned up.

In any case, your job is to be attentive rather than judgmental. When you feel that has been reached, even on a small level, welcome yourself back to your life and drop some of the judgment. Allow people to live their own lives and carve their own paths.

Even so: don’t mess with me.
