If you are unable, at this time, to raise the hips as in Fig. 3 simply hold the legs in the position of Fig. 2. Allowing the blood to flow out of the legs for one minute is healthful for the veins and arteries. Remember that many Yoga students have experienced remarkable weight normalization with the aid of the Shoulder Stand. The count in the extreme position will be increased on subsequent days.

Yoga for upper back for The current consensus among archaeologists is that moas and other large ground birds became extinct due to overhunting by Polynesians who had settled on the islands around years ago. In addition to overhunting, the indigenous population was also responsible for wide-scale habitat destruction through the use of fire to clear the land. Even more extreme examples of the impact of traditional societies on the natural environment can be seen on small islands, where, without careful stewardship, resources can be rapidly depleted. A clear example of almost complete ecosystem collapse can be seen on the isolated island of Rapa Nui Easter Island, perhaps better known for its peculiar giant stone effigies or moai.

When Europeans first arrived in they found a virtually treeless island and a tiny, greatly impoverished human population. However, before the first colonists arrived the island had hosted a diverse forest, with some trees reaching over feet meters in height, which had persisted for at least years. In total, more than species of trees and woody plants were destroyed, and by the forests had completely disappeared, leaving the native inhabitants no materials to build new boats to escape the now barren island.
