Once again the giver, after full body massage, moves into muscle relaxation exercises by extending the programme. Quickly run through Session Two. Don’t try to compress it into too short a time for your partner (and you) will still be tension-prone and not able to relax quickly.
After the desired arm relaxation is complete move on to legs. If upper limb relaxation is still difficult, keep with Session Two for the whole of the time and proceed no further for a while. Don’t despair if there is a ‘stick situation’ here, and don’t try to move on further. Given patience and perseverance the lesson will be learned. Of course once the taker becomes the giver the course may proceed more swiftly. Few people learn the relaxation response at any special given rate.
