Tensor Fasciae Latae
The tensor fasciae latae attaches to the iliac crest and extends itself down the outside it attaches to the illiotibial band. It is often very tender and super tight especially in with tight hips in general.
This little muscle is activates when we draw our legs out to the sides. It is also in a tension to stabilize the hips.
The quadratus lumborum is a deep muscle in the lower back area that originates on the iliac crest and attaches to the lumber spine and lower rib.
This muscle is one of the deep core muscles that help us to sit and stand erect. Often it is weak or not used properly because of poor posture. When the posture is aligned, this muscle will step up to the challenge of holding you upright in an efficient manner. When used correctly, it gets very strong and can help us to sit on the floor or in meditation comfortably for a long period of time.
