There’s no denying that celebrities’ health habits influence our lives. When Hollywood A-listers endorse diets or health products, it’s easy to assume they’re kosher. But celebs don’talways get it right! We’ve asked the experts to give their verdict on some of the current celebrity health trends.
WHO DOES IT: HALLE BERRY

B12 INJECTIONS WHO DOES IT: GERI HALLIWELL, MADONNA
Madonna is a fan ofvitamin B12 injections,and uses them to giveher an energy boostwhile on tour. Othercelebrity fans includePrince, Robbie Williams,Geri Halliwell and CharlizeTheron, who use vitaminB12 to counter theeffects of a demandingschedule and to avoid takingvitamin pills. Signs you couldbe low on vitamin B12 includeanaemia, fatigue, palpitationsand tingly hands and feet, butdeficiency is rare.
You canget sufficient vitamin B12through your diet via fish,meat, chicken and eggs,plus fortified cereals,says Evelyn Toner,specialist dieticianat London BridgeHospital (londonbridgehospital.com).Those most at risk ofB12 deficiency are theelderly, strict vegetariansand people with perniciousanaemia and gastrointestinal disorders– such as Coeliac disease – which hinderabsorption, says Toner. In Madonna’s case,it’s likely she’s experiencing a placebo effectfrom the injections, as they don’t have anybenefit unless there’s a pre-existingnutritional deficiency. ‘If you think you’re atrisk, you may benefit from including vitaminB12-rich or fortified foods in your diet ortaking an oral vitamin B12 supplement,’ saysToner. ‘Injections should only be taken onthe recommendation of your doctor.’
EXTREME SLEEP WHO DOES IT: MARIAH CAREY
